Mumbai: The main runway at the Mumbai airport was closed only for two hours on Thursday. As per the notice to airmen ( NOTAM), the runway is supposed to be shut for operations everyday from 9am to 5pm for construction of rapid exit taxiway. The closure is supposed to last till first week of June. Airport officials said that the visibility on the secondary runway, which was in use during the closure, deteriorated during the day, forcing airport officials to hand the main runway back to the air traffic control (ATC). The instrument landing system (ILS) on the secondary runway was unavailable, sources said.
