Night landing facility restarted at Gaya airport

Gaya: The much-awaited night landing facility, which was introduced in 2008 during the visit of the then president, Pratibha Patil, and was later discontinued due to theft of the instrument facilitating night landing at Gaya airport, has been re-introduced after a gap of nearly five years.
The first flight to land during night hours on Friday was the Air India Yangon-Gaya flight. The same flight took off for Kolkata for onward journey.
Earlier, passengers, particularly Haj pilgrims, had to undergo a lot of difficulties as flights were frequently cancelled during night hours or diverted to places like Lucknow. Recently, relatives and friends of the Haj pilgrims created a ruckus at the Gaya airport as the flight was diverted to Lucknow where the pilgrims had to spend six long hours without food and water.
