No flight delays despite heavy rains this year

Ahmedabad: This year there have been seven major flight delays at Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport and all of them have been due to technical faults in the flight. Constant check-up of runway and pre-monsoon check by all the concerned departments by Airport authority of India ensured that there were no delays due to infrastructure failure especially during the monsoon.
Until last year over 95 percent of the flight delays were reported during the monsoon season which reduced to zero this year. In 2010, soon after the new international terminal became operational, it was flooded with water after a brief spell of rain. As a result, several flights were delayed.
This year, however, despite the city receiving record rainfall, not a single flight was delayed nor was any flight diverted from the city airport.
