11 lakh fake notes seized from Guinean nationals at Chennai airport

Chennai: In one of the largest ever seizures of counterfeit currency in the city, security officers confiscated fake notes with a face value of 11.29 lakh and nabbed a Guinean national after he attempted to evade arrest at the Chennai airport on Wednesday.
Passengers were checking in at the airport for a 4.50pm SpiceJet flight from Chennai to New Delhi on Wednesday. Baggage moved through conveyor belt for scanning as usual — till airline staff pulled back one of the bags that appeared to contain a suspiciously large number of bundles that resembled wads of cash.
