Air India identifies five properties for sale for asset monetisation

New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh today said that national carrier Air India had so far identified five properties for sale and tenders in this regard had been finalised and uploaded on the airline's website as part of an asset monetisation process.
Addressing a meeting of the Parliamentary consultative committee attached to his Ministry, he said that, to facilitate and monitor the process, an oversight committee had been set up by the airline, which has recommended e-auction of the properties.
Mr Singh said eight floors of the Nariman Point building of Air India in Mumbai had been given out on rent and proposals for the renting out of the remaining floors were under consideration.
"We expect a gross annual rent of approximately Rs. 80 crore per annum from leasing of the Nariman Point building," he said.
Mr Singh said that the improvements in the operating performance of the state-owned airline had happened despite adverse factors which have affected its financial parameters.
