Mumbai: As the year draws to a close, airfares have begun to climb every few hours. After all, it is that time of the year again when early birds are rewarded and those who choose to take off on a whim are forced to pay dearly for their delayed decisions.
Airfares from Mumbai to Goa, one way, for travel on Tuesday rose by Rs 1,000 on Monday from around Rs 4,000 two days ago. Return ticket rates stayed high for travel on January 2 or 3, taking the cheapest fare to Rs 20,000. Despite the cost, there is a rider -these are the fares on flights scheduled at inconvenient hours. The cheapest Goa-Mumbai fare for travel on January 2 and 3 hovered around Rs 15,000 for flights that departed at 11.30pm.
