Consortium blames protocol which does not allow governor to share dais with the CM. Raj Bhavan says there is no such rule
There was general approval when it was announced that Bangalore's international airport would be named after Kempe Gowda, the founder of the city. Now though, on the eve of the naming ceremony —also the inauguration of the expanded terminal building — Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) officials are caught in a piquant situation for not inviting the governor for the event.
Saturday's event is to be presided over by chief minister Siddaramaiah. BIAL authorities claim that protocol does not allow for the governor to attend a function that also involves the CM. Raj Bhavan officials say there is no such rule. Top bureaucrats say that the governor should have been invited as the event is of national significance.
