Kochi: The Customs Department officials investigating various gold smuggling incidents have received information that gold smugglers are getting aid from some officials at various airports in the country. The Department investigating the seizure of the gold at Thiruvananthapuram airport in November last week received information that the smugglers were using fake passport with the knowledge of officials.
According to Customs officials, they have clear information of the assistance given by airport officials in the case registered against Samsudheen Basheer of Perumalpuram in Kozhikode who was arrested from Thiruvananthapuram airport with two kg of gold brought from Dubai in November last week.
