Height of temple mast in AAI report disputed

Kochi: Airports Authority of India's (AAI) study report on Aranmula private airport, which places the height of Aranmula Parthasarathy temple's flag mast at 30.8 mt, is being disputed by an action council of villagers of Aranmula.
The dispute regarding the height of the temple mast was raised by representatives of Aranmula Heritage Village Action Council when advocate S Subhash Chand, who is the advocate commissioner appointed by the high court to study issues related to the airport, visited the proposed airport site on Friday.
The AAI report stated that the height of the temple mast needed to be altered if the project was to be implemented. Further, the report had suggested shifting the runway's threshold (place where the runway begins) by 285 mt and installing warning lights. Now, the villagers' action council has opposed the AAI report. The sculptor of the temple has informed the advocate commissioner that the actual height of the mast is 40.56 mt, while the AAI report mentioned the height as 30.8 mt.
