Ministry eases building height bar

Navi Mumbai: The civil aviation ministry has agreed to lift blanket bank on redevelopment in satellite city. This move comes as a relief for the citizens and developers.
According to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) sources, there is no need to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the aviation ministry for redevelopment work of ground plus two storey structures or construction activity for seven to 10-storey building.
"The aviation ministry has agreed to allow redevelopment work or construction activities below 70m (roughly the height of a 10 -storey tower). The authorities have said that the local body should give permission for the redevelopment or construction activity below 70m. Anything above the stipulated height would need NOC from the aviation ministry," said mayor Sagar Naik on Friday.
Naik said that the assurance to lift the blanket ban was given to MP Sanjeev Naik, who had recently taken up the issue with the union government.
