Panaji: Farmers affected by the land acquisition for the proposed Mopa airport and further aggrieved by an order of the high court that dismissed their petition, have decided to approach the Supreme Court challenging the government's move to acquire their land.
Briefing mediapersons, Sandip Kambli of the Mopa Vimantall Piditt Xetkari Samiti, said that the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, does not apply to the farmers or to the land as they are absolute owners of the land and not by rights granted by the state government.
