Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala cabinet today sanctioned a Financial Action plan of Rs 132 crore for Kannur Airport for a period of five years.
Addressing a press conference after cabinet meeting here, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the amount would work as a 'vibability gap' and state government guarantee for the projet funds.
Construction of the airport runway would start soon and government plan was to start the airport's functioning by 2015, he said. On other decisons, he said revised administrative sanction to the tune of Rs 242.47 crore has been accorded for the works of Kochi Metro. The earlier sanctioned amount was Rs 158.68 crore.
