Sniffer dog squad inducted at airport

Visakhapatnam: In the wake of increasing threats at the airport, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has inducted a dog squad comprising four well-trained police sniffer Labradors at Vizag airport. The dog squad was inducted in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) here on Wednesday.
The dogs underwent a rigorous six-month dog training course under the guidance of six dog-handlers at the National Training Center for Dogs at the BSF base at Tekanpur in Gwalior of Madhya Pradesh.
The four sniffer dogs have been trained to detect explosive substances like RDX, PETN, TNT, among other explosives, as well as narcotic drug substances. Two of the sniffer dogs will be placed on duty each in one shift at Vizag airport for regular checking of passenger baggage and will also carry out anti-sabotage checks at the airport before the departure and arrival of VVIPs.
