Technical snag grounds AI flight

Muscat: A technical snag led to a Muscat-Mumbai Air India (AI) flight being grounded in Muscat, forcing authorities to lodge the flight's passengers in a hotel in Muscat yesterday.
"The aircraft came from Mumbai. It was supposed to fly back with the passengers yesterday. But the flight had to be grounded due to a technical snag. Our engineers, flown from India, are trying their best to rectify the problem along with Oman Air experts' team. The problem will be solved by this evening (Monday) and passengers will be able to fly to their destinations," a senior official from the airline's Muscat office told the Times of Oman.
"Almost 60 per cent of the passengers have left Muscat via other Air India flights to Calicut and Cochin. The rest will also fly soon," the official added.
In all, 116 passengers were supposed to fly on the grounded flight.
Meanwhile, the passengers lodged in the hotel said that they were unaware about the technical snag and none of the airline officials had informed them satisfactorily about the reason.
