Visually-impaired Students Go on Sorties of Joy

Hyderabad: If life is about making memorable memories, for a bunch of visually-impaired children the joyrides in aircraft organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Aviation Academy (RGAA) was an experience they will cherish life-long.
For the 22 students of the Devnar Foundation for Blind, it was their first experience of flying in an aircraft their happiness knew no bounds.
The joyrides organised at Nadargul airfield here on Sunday was a part of the academy’s corporate social responsibility programmes. Three training aircraft were used and seven sorties, each of 20-minute duration, were conducted.
Harish, a Class X student of the school, described the rides as “superb” experience. He said, “I had never been in an aircraft before. It was an awesome experience. The pilot was very good. He explained the functionality of each button in the aircraft mid-air. He also told us how the aircraft attains speed, about upward movement, landing and other technicalities.”
