Jaipur: Custom officers at Jaipur airport found 3 kgs of gold in the dustbin near washroom at arrival hall on Saturday. The value of recovered gold is estimated at Rs 70 lakh. Till the last reports came in the customs officers were grilling some Air India staff in connection with smuggling.
"The matter came to light after one of our officers saw a packet neatly packed in the dustbin before the immigration counter. The packet was taken out by the surveillance team who found gold inside," said Honhar Singh, deputy commissioner, customs, Jaipur.
The packet was recovered during the immigration check of passengers who arrived from Dubai in Air India flight at 3.55 pm. "No doubt, the packet was left by a passenger who came from Dubai in Air India flight which arrived here at 3.55 pm," said Singh.
