Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee government has planned to promote "Brand Bengal" as Biswa Bangla (BB) Brand with its handicrafts, handlooms and other products. The government will also showcase popular Bengali films of Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen or those directed by Satyajit Ray.
The BB outlets will be one-stop destinations for handicraft, handlooms, silk items, traditional Bengali sweets, woodcraft and folk painting, among others.
These will also have Darjeeling tea, leather goods of Santiniketan, Surma of Chitpur, Amswatto and Kasundi of Malda. Also, the government plans to keep stock of Bengali movies featuring Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen and those directed by Satyajit Ray.
Several other products like mangoes, Baluchuri and Santipuri sari, which are geographical products of Bengal, will be available in the stalls. Also, Purulia masks, Patachitra of Midnapore, Khadi and Musleen will be there. Besides, one can get info packs for travelling in Bengal.
