Itanagar: Work on the under-construction airport at Tezu in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh has gained momentum with hectic activities underway to complete the runway, terminal building and air traffic control tower works to meet the 2014 deadline.
“The 1.5 km long and 30 m wide runway is very sensitive from the security point of view, therefore we are ensuring 100 per cent quality work. It is expected to be completed within 6 months if good weather prevails,” technical in-charge of runway, Pankaj Neog said.
“To build an airport of national standard is a Herculean task by itself. Rainfall and poor road connectivity make the task harder,” Airport Authority of India (AAI) deputy general manager D Bhattacharjee said.
