Customs seizes Rs 78 lakh gold from 5 passengers at airport

Mumbai: Gold worth Rs 78 lakh was seized on Friday from five different passengers who were trying to smuggle it into the city.
In the first case, a flyer, Ubaid Nelliyadukkam, was found carrying six gold bars weighing a total of 700gm and worth Rs 17.7 lakh. Another passenger, Assai Usman, had concealed gold wires worth 585gm worth Rs 14.80 lakh in the rods of his trolley bag. The third flyer, Mohammed Jammer, too had concealed gold wires weighing 620gm and worth Rs 48.22 lakh in a similar manner.
