Dreamliner hit by bird in Kolkata, grounded

New Delhi:  An Air India Dreamliner was grounded in Kolkata on Thursday when the aircraft (VT-ANE) suffered a bird hit while landing there. The aircraft was flying from Delhi to Kolkata and was to return in just over an hour when it had bird hit.
"There is no serious issue with the aircraft. But as per procedure, it has to be grounded for checks after a bird hit. We hope to have this aircraft back in air very soon," said an AI spokesman.
Incidentally, this is the second trouble for the same Dreamliner (VT-ANE ) in five days. Last Sunday it had suffered a transponder failure while flying from London to Delhi. The aircraft, which was over Germany after flying for about two hours from UK, then had to return to Heathrow. It barely made it there in time for the night curfew to kick in at Heathrow.
