Gold bars seized in Madurai airport

Madurai: In yet another gold seizure in Madurai international airport, gold bars weighing 1,100g were recovered from three people, including two from Chennai, on Sunday evening. Customs officials who recovered the gold bars estimated that the worth of the gold around Rs 30 lakh.
Sources from customs department said that this is the first time they have seized gold bars exceeding one kg in a single day. The recovery was made after the officials sensed something wrong with the air passengers during their regular check-up.
Two of the three people detained were from Chennai and the rest is from Pudukkottai. The detained were identified as Mohammed Ismail and Abdul Rahman of Chennai and Saligu of Pudukkottai.
