Mumbai's seaplane service may take off by February

Mumbai: Seaplane flight services between Juhu and Girgaum Chowpatty and to destinations outside the city are likely to take off by February as the private charter company that plans to launch this amphibian aircraft facility expects to receive the last few government clearances in the next few weeks.
The much-awaited clearance from the Union ministry of defence-permissions from the Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force-was received on Saturday.
"The next is a clearance from the Mumbai Port Trust. We have also written to the collector requesting space for a couple of porta cabins that will be installed at Girgaum Chowpatty for passenger facilitation," said Siddharth Verma, managing director of Mehair, the company which is setting up the seaplane services in Mumbai.
