Night landing device stolen again from Gaya airport

Gaya: Night vision device installed near the Dhungeshwari hills to facilitate night landing facility for Gaya bound aeroplanes have once again been stolen rendering the airport runway unfit for landing/take off during dark hours. The device was installed a couple of months back in the beginning of the nearly five months long tourist season when a large number of foreign tourists and pilgrims throng Bodh Gaya.
Tourist inflow is already low this season mainly on account of the Bodh Gaya and Patna serial blasts and the theft of night landing device has further dampened the spirit of Bodh Gaya people as the local economy is almost exclusively dependent on tourists/pilgrims. Gaya airport director S Biswas confirmed the incident of theft.
Bodh Gaya DSP Satish Prasad said the battery, not the device as such had been stolen. An FIR has been registered in this connection. No arrest has so far been made nor the stolen item recovered, said the DSP.
