Pune Airport to operate for 12 hours from Jan 15

As the work of much awaited project of the Indian Air Force, Modernisation of Air Field Infrastructure (MAFI), will commence at the Pune Air Force station form January 15, the civil airport will be operational for 12 hours.
According to Airport Authority of India (AAI), the schedule of all flights will be affected for next four months. The AAI has not yet announced the revised flight schedules, but the officials claim they are geared up to accommodate all flights within the 12 hours.
Pune airport director Manoj Gangal said, ”The airport will be open between 10.30 am and 10 pm, we will have to cater to passengers in the 12-hour time frame. We are making changes at the airport for swifter movement of passengers.”
To make the entire process convenient for passengers, the AAI will be making several facilities available for passengers including 25 baggage check scanners, re-orientation of security check area, additional sniffer dogs. For the first time Pune airport will get 24x7 ambulance service. Gangal said, “Only one gate is operational for arrival and one for departure. Additional gates will be operational as per the passenger flow.”
