Mumbai: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Mumbai Customs seized gold worth Rs 7.5 lakh and about Rs 20.8 lakh foreign currency worth in two separate cases on Friday at Mumbai airport.
An AIU official intercepted a passenger, Mir Sultan Ali, soon after he landed in Mumbai from Thailand. Ali chose to go through the green channel but officials grew suspicious. Following a check, officials recovered a gold chain and a gold bangle weighing 306 gm. The gold was valued at approximately Rs 7.5 lakh.
