Russian woman caught with sat phone at KIA

Bangalore: A Russian woman was on Thursday morning detained at Kempe Gowda International Airport after security personnel found her carrying a satellite mobile phone allegedly without a valid licence and related documents.
CISF personnel detained Volga Datekshaya, 31, during a security check. "Carrying a satellite phone into the country is an offence, without a valid licence from Indian authorities. She's been booked under the Indian Telegraph Act as per the complaint lodged by CISF security personnel," said DCP (northeast) TR Suresh.
Volga claimed she had visited Kerala last month and was carrying the same phone with her, without seeking permission from the Indian authorities. She came to Kerala to undergo ayurvedic treatment, and is continuing with it in a city hospital.
