Agartala: The Tripura government has sought intervention of Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on the airlines charging exorbitant airfares to and from Agartala over the past one month.
Transport secretary Kishore Ambuly, in separate letters to all the airlines operating in Agartala as well as to the DGCA on Wednesday, demanded more flights to operate in the Agartala-Kolkata and Agartala-Guwahati sectors, besides urging them to charge rational fares.
"As against an average price of Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per ticket in the Agartala-Kolkata and Agartala-Guwahati sectors, the airlines, including Air India are charging between Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 per ticket, thereby putting great hardships to travellers," Ambuly alleged.
