6 villages think about taking airport land battle to court

Navi Mumbai: Six villages, opposing the Navi Mumbai International Airport, are considering taking the battle to court.
A day after the state government made it clear that the villagers will get 22.5% of developed land as compensation and those opposing it will get a package according to the Union government's Land Acquisition Act (which is 20% of the developed land), the members of the protesting villages said, "We have not got any official communication on the latest development from the state government."
Mahendra Patil, leader of the organization formed by the farmers of these six villages - Antarrashtriya Vimanthal Shetkari Sangharsh Samiti, said, "The villagers are not going to accept the offered compensation. If the package is forced on us, farmers are contemplating fighting a legal battle."
