Aranmula airport: Govt supports KGS in court

Kochi: State government on Friday filed an affidavit in the Kerala high court supporting KGS Group's claim that the proposed private airport at Aranmula would not affect Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple.
The affidavit filed by chief secretary EK Bharat Bhushan, through senior government pleader R Padmaraj, said KGS Aranmula International Airport Ltd has given an undertaking not to interfere with the temple's structure and that they are bound to obey it.
Government's affidavit also stated that a government order was issued by the transport department on January 16 last year giving sanction for accepting 10% equity participation for government in the company. The shareholding was given to the government free of cost by the company for providing puramboke land.
