Changi consortium alleges conflict of interest from GMR Infra in bid for Mactan-Cebu project

Bangalore/Mumbai: GMR Infrastructure is battling allegations of conflict of interest from a rival bidder which failed to match its financial offer for a prestigious airport project in the Philippines.
The trouble hinders the Bangalore-based group's attempt to regain an overseas foothold and raises questions about the role of one of its partners in the Delhi and Hyderabad airports.
The bone of contention is that Bashir Ahmed, managing director of Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad—one of the competing bidders for the Mactan-Cebu project— also has seats in two of GMR's airport companies in India, namely Delhi International Airport Ltd and GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd.
