Kannur: As all is set for the inauguration of the construction works of the Kannur International Airport on Sunday, the CPM seems to be a little unnerved, though the party representatives will take part in the function. The party leaders said that Sunday’s function was a repetition of the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the airport held three years ago.
“The foundation stone of the airport was laid by V S Achuthanandan, the then chief minister on December 17, 2010. Now, another event is being organised for the same purpose,” CPM Mattannur area committee secretary P Purushothaman said. CPM district secretary P Jayarajan said that the inaugural function to be held on Sunday was a laughable event as it was just a repetition.
However, he added that party MLAs would take part in the function. Meanwhile, the CPM has set up flex boards in Mattannur, reminding people of the achievements the party could make in the works of the airport, including that of land acquisition proceedings.
