Parties plan to fly high this season

Lucknow: Elections dates maybe a few weeks away but political parties in UP are already flying high. The big four - BJP, Congress, SP and BSP - have drawn up plans to hire helicopters and jets and are in talks with aviation companies and agents.
BJP is likely to hire about 10 choppers for its election campaign in UP where top leaders like Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, LK Advani, Arun Jaitley, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Murli Manohar Joshi and Nitin Gadkari.
Sources in Congress said a special cell would be constituted in Delhi, which will monitor the movement of top Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. The Gandhis will be visiting not only their constituencies which they represent -- Amethi and Rae Bareli -- but also flying out to far flung areas like Bundelkhand and East UP. The party plans to hire seven to eight choppers for its star campaigners in the state.
Samajwadi Party sources told TOI that the party, which will have its star campaigners Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav criss-cross the state in the run-up to the elections, will hire about six helicopters for its election campaign.
