Mumbai: For Mumbai's corporate honchos who drive up on weekends for over 120 kilometres to enjoy a game of golf in the plush Aamby Valley, near Lonavala, there is now an attractive alternative.
Golfing enthusiasts can reach their destination in just one fifth the time that they now take to reach their favourte getaway near Pune by flying on a sea plane which starts services from March 10. The ride on a single three seater Cessna will cost you between Rs 4,500 to Rs 5,000 one way and will reach the golf course within thirty minutes flat.
Of course that is pretty expensive, but its only meant for the well heeled. After all the same journey on a rented car would cost you about Rs 4,000 for a return trip and only Rs 800 on a Volvo bus. And if you want to drive your Merc or BMW you might just have to fork out Rs 600-700 on petrol for the journey both ways .
Maritime Energy Heli Air Services (MEHAIR), the company which has been running an amphibian plane service in Andaman and Nicobar Islands since 2011 is launching the the Mumbai-Aamby Valley charter. This will be a second such service in India.
