New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugupal told informed Parliament that the Government had granted "site clearance" to Prakasham Airport Pvt Ltd for setting up of a greenfield airport at Ongole in Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh.
In written replies to questions in the Rajya Sabha, he also said that the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad was among the airports identified for development as an international hub.
An `international airport` is an airport designated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Contracting State in whose territory it is situated as an airport of entry and departure for international air traffic.
