Step-I of bidding process for Navi Mumbai airport begins today

Mumbai: After a delay of close to three years, work on the Navi Mumbai airport project has finally got a major impetus with the CIDCO planning to float the Request for Qualification (RFQ) for interested bidders on Wednesday.
CIDCO will be coming out with advertisements in all national papers and a few international publications like the Financial Times.
The RFQ is the first step in the bidding process in which CIDCO will shortlist eligible players that can then bid in the Request for Proposal stage, the second step in the bidding process.
The Chief Minister is expected to formally announce the calling of the RFQ on Wednesday.
“We will be floating the RFQs on Wednesday. We hope the entire process of shortlisting the actual bidders will be completed in six months,” a senior CIDCO official said.
As per its initial plans, CIDCO was to start the construction work in 2010 and the first phase of the project by September 2013.
