AI Flight Brushes Against Catering Vehicle at Chennai Airport

Chennai: An Air India aircraft parked in a bay in Chennai airport was slightly damaged on Sunday after an in-flight catering vehicle accidentally hit the wingtip of the stationed aircraft at around 9 AM.
Airport officials said the in-flight catering vehicle came to the nearby bay to load food into a Jet Airways flight which was scheduled to depart for Bangalore at 9.45 AM.
The vehicle driver, while manoeuvring around the Jet Airways flight, miscalculated the distance with Air India flight and hit on the wing tip.
While the damage appears to be minimal, the Air India aircraft has been grounded as per DGCA protocol.
