Air hostess suicide case: former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda gets bail

New Delhi:  The Delhi High Court today granted bail to former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, who is accused of abetting the suicide of an air hostess employed with his aviation company in 2012.
The bail to the 48-year-old accused has been granted against two sureties of Rs. 5 lakh each and a personal bond of Rs. 5 lakh. Mr Kanda has also been asked to submit his passport.
Geetika Sharma, working with Mr Kanda's MDLR Airlines, was found dead on August 5, 2012 at her Ashok Vihar residence in northwest Delhi. In her suicide note, the 23-year-old had said she was ending her life due to "harassment" by Mr Kanda and his close aide, Aruna Chadha.
Ms Chadha was arrested on August 8, 2012. Mr Kanda surrendered before the police ten days later. The High Court granted bail to Ms Chadha last month.
