Hyderabad: Airport Authority of India (AAI) is all set introduce "cockpit clearances" to encourage tourism, business traffic by chartered and non-scheduled operator's permit (NSOP) operations in a big scale in the country.
After launching the GPRS enabled electronic cash transactions at the Begumpet airport, Hyderabad as part of AAI's nation-wide facility, G Ashok Kumar, joint secretary in the MCA, said the exercise, which began at Juhu airport on September 21, 2013, has now spread to almost all airports in the country and thereby provided a relaxed and hassle free operations of NSOP and chartered flight operators.
"We plan to provide Wi-Fi facility so that the pilots could pay the air traffic control (ATC) etc, sitting in their cockpits" he said contending that the operators can now pay by credit cards instead of cash.
Ashok Kumar said Goa alone handled 1,150 chartered flights last year, and the relaxed and hassle free entry procedures could not promote more tourism traffic in the country.
