Hyderabad: Much-hyped as a unique crowd-puller at the India Aviation 2014, the theatre set up to screen aviation-related films during the five-day event has turned out to be a dud. Even as Day 2 of the airshow at Begumpet Airport drew to a close, hardly 10 to 12 people were seen at any given time at the 60-70 seater theatre set up at the venue.
The theatre screens five films, both fiction and non-fiction, non-stop throughout the day from 10 am to 5 pm. Starting with the action-packed 1997 drama 'Air Force 1' (from 10 to 12 noon), it is followed by technical videos and documentaries like 'Big Aircraft' )2.15 to 3 pm) and 'Aviation Experience' (3.15 to 4 pm). Most of the videos give the audience an insight into how aircraft around the world are made and the various factors involved in making these huge metal birds.
However, most people found it a dry affair. "It is a business event and people are here to network. Who has time to watch such movies? Anyway, most of those participating in the event belong to the industry and they already know all about such things," said one of the visitors. Agreeing with him, another piped in that the theatre may get more footfalls once the event is opened for the general public on the last two days.
