CIDCO steps in to end Navi Mumbai airport row

Despite stiff opposition from six villages, where the runway for the Navi Mumbai International Airport is expected to come up, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is keeping all options open. The planning agency has given top priority to finalising a deal with the disgruntled villagers.
To break the ongoing stalemate, the planning agency is in talks with Justice (retd)  P B Sawant, who was earlier seen attending meetings of the opposing villagers. It is learnt that two senior-most CIDCO officials have already finished a preliminary meeting with the retired Supreme Court judge. Sanjay Bhatia, MD, CIDCO and joint MD, V Radha, had a first round of discussion with Justice (retd) P B Sawant in Pune last week, a source knowing the development said.  However, the outcome of the said meeting is still unknown.
