Chennai: Flying out of Chennai’s airport will no longer be a droll culinary experience, as the new food and beverage contractor — Mumbai-based Travel Food Services (TFS) — is finally bringing luxury lounges, bars and brands like KFC and Pizza Hut.
With the contracts of quite a few of the food kiosks and eateries ending on Friday, a TFS team is working at full steam to ensure that they give passengers as many culinary options as they like.
Airports Authority of India officials have been working closely with TFS to ensure that every possible inch of available space is put to ‘gastronomic’ use.
This will be a vast change-over from staple stalls like Adyar Ananda Bhavan, Sangeetha and so on, which have opted not to take up contracts with TFS till date and are moving out. “A few brands like Cafe Coffee Day and Sri Krishna Sweets have taken up space and are in the process of setting up. We are likely to be opening up to 37 various restaurants and kiosks across the international and domestic terminals across the next couple of months,” said one of the team members of TFS. A long-time airport catering staple — Taj Catering Services — will also be moving out of the airport after a long association with the Chennai airport and AAI.
