Bangalore: Karnataka government expects infrastructure in tier-II cities will be up to expectations by 2017.
Addressing the CII-Karnataka’s State Council meet on ‘Karnataka for India’s Growth Story’ M Maheshwar Rao, Karnataka Commissioner for Industrial Development, said, “The State government is committed to creating more jobs in manufacturing sector. The aim is to return the sector on a growth path of 12 to 13 per cent.”
The State government is working on infrastructure needs like improving connectivity, removal of VAT on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to attract more flights to tier-II cities as alternate growth centres, timely clearance of applications, development of industrial corridors, last-mile connectivity, public-private partnership initiatives, skill development, ease of land acquisition, single window clearance, promotion of industrial clusters and creating a vision group to develop Karnataka as an industrial hub were some of the key suggestions that emerged during the meet.
