Powerless: Abhijeet Group turns off the lights in Mihan

Nagpur: A fortnight after chief minister Prithviraj Chavan presided over the much hyped ground breaking ceremony by IT giant Infosys, which promises to create 5,000 jobs in Mihan-SEZ, this pet project for politicians across party lines in Vidarbha plunged into darkness. Since Saturday, there has been no electricity supply in this area. The official reason for the outage is that the generator sets have run out of diesel. It is assured that power will be restored by Monday, but more problems can be expected.
Sitting Congress MP and Lok Sabha candidate Vilas Muttemwar hoped to gather mileage from the Infosys event. His rival BJP's Nitin Gadkari too has been harping on Mihan to gather urban votes, and lately Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Anjali Damania said it is a major electoral issue for her.
However, when TOI politicians for their comment on the power crisis, no one responded. TOI had contacted Muttemwar, minister of state for power Rajendra Mulak, Gadkari, and a SMS was sent to the CM too.
Cheap power supplied through the 240MW plant set up by city-based Abhijeet Group is the USP for attracting investors in Mihan. However, Abhijeet Group had issued a termination notice to Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) - the developer for Mihan in November.
