Sahnewal airport expansion gets a push

Ludhiana: Punjab governor Shivraj Patil on Monday announced expansion of much-criticised Sahnewal airport in Ludhiana that for long has been struggling with irregularity in its lone domestic flight to the national capital.
"Approximately 322 acres of land is being acquired for the extension of runway of the domestic airport at Ludhiana" Patil old the house on the first day of Vidhan Sabha session. He said that the land was being acquired by Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA).
Last year, the Punjab government in its budget had said that the land measuring 1,827 acre is under acquisition for setting up an Integrated Aero city complex consisting of Cargo and Warehouse facilities in Ludhiana.
