Trivandrum: Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Limited (KTIL), with the active support of the Government, is once again fortifying itself for the re-launch of the much controversial tourism project - Seaplanes. If all goes well, this may happen within the next two months.
According to original plans, the seaplane project was scheduled a take-off on June 2, 2013. But, amid protests from various trade unions representing the fisher folk community, the take off was ‘grounded’. The authorities cited weather as the spoilsport!
A KTIL official speaking to Yentha clarified that there were no changes to the original plan. He explained, “After fisher folks opposed, a committee was formed to study the viability of the project and its impact on the fishermen’s community. This committee’s report is in its final stage. Anyhow, we are preparing ourselves to launch the project within two months.” He adds, “However, KTIL is subject to the guidelines that will be proposed by the Government. If anything additional has to be done then we will comply. Whatever they are, we will address the concerns raised by the fisher folks.”
