Serge fires at DOTC over Cebu airport job

A day after calling President Benigno Aquino III and Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla “awful managers,” Senator Sergio Osmeña III slammed the Transport Department for allegedly not doing its job.
He continued his criticisms even as Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Friday defended Aquino, saying he had a difficult job to do.
Osmeña criticized Aquino and Petilla on Thursday for the country’s unreliable and expensive electricity, and on Friday he warned he would hale Transport officials to court should they award the P17.7-billion construction and 25-year management contract of the Mactan Cebu International Airport to a questionable foreign firm.
“If the DOTC awards this and gives this to GMR [Infrastructure Ltd. of India], I’ll take them to court. What can I do, the DOTC [people] are not doing their job,” Osmeña told reporters.
In Malacañang, presidential spokeswoman Abigail Valte said Friday Osmeña remained an administration ally despite his attack on Aquino.
“One disagreement does not unmake or unravel a particular relationship. We’re open to having these discussions,” Valte said.
