Visitors fume as empty tarmac, stalls greet them at aviation show

Hyderabad: The nearly 10,000 visitors who braved the harsh sun and steep entrance fee of Rs 300 per person to reach the India Aviation 2014 at Begumpet airport were left utterly disappointed on Saturday as most of the aircraft they had hoped to see had left. More than 18 planes, which had been on display during the first three days of the event, had taken off by Friday evening.
"We were hoping to catch a glimpse of the A380, but were very disappointed when we found a nearly empty tarmac," said Anil Kulkarni, a resident of Malkajgiri who brought his two excited children to the show.
The only solace was the 15-minute aerobatics performance by British pilots Mark Jefferies and Tom Cassells. The team did an impromptu round around 1.30 pm and concluded the day with another display of daredevilry at 3.30 pm, visitors said.
But most people who hoped to get a dose of technology at the sprawling exhibition hall were left dejected as all it provided was a respite from the outdoor heat.
Even the exhibitors admitted that the public had not been treated well.
