Another glass panel comes crashing at Chennai airport

Chennai: There seems to be no end to accidents at the new airport terminals. Sources in the airport security and officials said a glass panel at the domestic terminal crashed in the wee hours of Wednesday. This is the second incident in the last one week after more than a dozen of similar glass panes crashed in the last six months, gaping holes in the structure.
What would be the reason for repeating crashes of glass panels? Even as the incidents recur, engineers of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) who monitored the construction of the terminals have no answer. Both AAI and the ministry of civil aviation, which on Wednesday asked for an explanation from the airport, are yet to fix the responsibility. The Rs3,000crore airport expansion project was executed by the Consolidated Construction Consortium Limited (CCCL) under the watch of a team of AAI engineers.
Officials said the large glass panel fell from the facade of the new domestic terminal's eastern wing in the wee hours.
