Customs official files FIR against Air India for luggage theft

New Delhi: A senior customs official has filed a police complaint against Air India for alleged damage to his luggage and loss of valuables including an Ipad and foreign currency.
The complainant, Atul Dikshit, has alleged that his suitcase locks were tampered with during his recent journey from Washington to Delhi via New York and Mumbai, official sources said.
Dikhsit had last week traveled from Washington to New York on a foreign airline (which had code share agreement) and from there to Mumbai and Delhi on an Air India plane, they said.
After his arrival here, the officer did not find his luggage in the plane in which he had traveled. His luggage came later by another plane.
Dikshit, after receiving his luggage, found certain unusual marks on his suitcase apparently due to unauthorised attempt to force open it. After opening, he found that an Ipad and foreign currency, among others, kept inside it, were missing, the sources said.
