GSPCB: New Dabolim terminal operating without legal clearance

Panaji:  The recently inaugurated new airport terminal at Dabolim, managed by airports authority of India (AAI), is currently functioning without proper clearance to operate under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981. This came to light when the Goa state pollution control board (GSPCB) officials inspected the premises. GSPCB is likely to issue show-cause notice for violations of the above mentioned Acts.
GSPCB officials inspected new airport terminal on Thursday following the growing number of reports in newspapers regarding the discharge of dirty water from the new airport terminal into a nullah.
When contacted, GSPCB chairman Jose Manual Noronha, said, "The AAI doesn't have consent to operate the new airport terminal under Air and Water Acts. The board will issue a show-cause notice to the AAI for operating the airport terminal without consent to operate".
